The graduate collection of Luanna Pucci was inspired by the ‘explosion of textures’ and vibrant colours experienced while living in Barcelona for five months. The primary source of inspiration for the collection was the ‘La Caixa’ tapestry created by Joan Miró and Josep Royo in 1980, which Luanna saw during an exhibition in the city. She used primary images of the tapestry and other places she visited in Barcelona as part of her research and inspiration. The textiles in the collection aimed to explore textures and bright colours extensively, with the depth and volume of the textures representing the highs and lows of Luanna’s experience of moving to Barcelona. The collection was predominantly made up of knitted textiles, and the designer used various techniques, such as partial knitting, fringing, and weaving, and explored different weights of yarn and layering. The designer’s intent was to create visually stunning textiles that reflected her personal experience and embodied the inspiration found in Miró’s work and the vibrant culture of Barcelona.
