Too Loud!
Ezra’s Graduate collection titled Too Loud! Was inspired by their experiences as an autistic person. Using their diagnostic documents they identified three main aspects of their identity that are most impacted by being autistic. Awkwardness, a feeling of being wrong or out of place follows them through daily life in the way they feel themself, but also the way others tend to feel about them. Passions and interests are something autistic people experience very strongly and Ezra decided that their passions from childhood are the purest form of this as they are the most unapologetic and un-masked form of an individual. Lastly, the feeling of safety that accompanies them when they are at their most comfortable, most regulated, and relaxed. These different aspects all combine to make up their own unique experience of the world; to most other people this means they come off as being too much to handle, too intense, perhaps a little strange or weird. The purpose behind this collection was to highlight the fact that these parts of them are out of their control, there’s much more to their experience of being human that meets the eye, and maybe being different isn’t all that wrong.
