The Fold

My collection inspiration came from researching my family tree over the past summer, coming from Irish American roots I became especially interested in my mother’s family lineage. Particularly my family’s connection to the Irish linen manufacturing industry in the early 1900’s Northern Ireland. From this, I began to look at the processes used within these linen factories as inspiration. Particularly the folding techniques used on the finished linen fabric bolts. This led me to create a clean folded natural Irish linen collection pulling inspiration from the past and traditional hand sowing and weaving techniques such as hand embellishment and embroidery.

Fabric sourcing was also hugely important to me within this collection wanting to source and use ethically produced linen from Ireland. And being able to trace the origins of all the fabrics used.
