Path to Harmony

With my collection, I wanted to ask questions and make a statement that still keeps things subtle, artistic, and commercially viable. Many of the aspects of my collection for me are proof of concepts. Using NASA satellite imagery to create prints for garments and using knits and latex to create footwear. The research that drove this work centres around the term coined by Professor Peter H. Khan called Technological Nature. This term defines our growing dependence on technology when we encounter nature. Be that through film, virtual reality and video games or robotic facsimiles, we have become dependent on these mediums to provide us with the connection to the earth that we all need. Kahn proposes that we should incorporate these platforms into our relationship with the planet instead of replacing it with meagre attempts at substitution.

This is what I want to subtly approach with my collection. Bringing technology and aspects of the earth together to generate a viewpoint. To weave a perspective into a collection of garments and footwear, in the hopes of creating a closer connection to the natural world through design. To bring nature back into our lives instead of surpassing it at the cost of our fundamental human well-being.
