Urban Habitat

In my project my theme is centered around urban environments and the beauty found within them, looking at graffiti, peeling paint and plant overgrowth for textile inspiration. I explored the capabilities of modular fashion when producing my knitted jumper and I aimed to produce lino printed textiles to replace the digitally printed fabrics that are the standard of our course. The reason for this is to explore a more affordable, sustainable way of producing printed textiles that didn’t involve getting fabric digitally printed and delivered from outside Ireland. Printing textiles myself would reduce my carbon footprint and would reduce the price of my products making the customer pay less.
