Hannah Docherty

Huntin Fishin Ridin

Hannah Docherty is from the Fashion Design course. For this collection she was inspired by some of the men she found on tinder, the dating app. Hannah was fascinated by the primitive urge men possess to show off a recently killed deer or a fish, in order to attract a potential mate.  The size of the kill is an extension of his masculinity. She explores this concept with a sense of humour and curiosity. Hannah combines this satire of hypermasculinity with traditionally ultra-feminine silhouettes and materials. She has created a collection for the ultimate trophy prize.  She burns and distresses layers of tulle mesh and satin to create “trashy couture”. Denim, camouflage and white t-shirts are traditionally functional masculine materials but through manipulation they become purely for aesthetics. Hannah enjoys using non traditional fashion embellishments such as the fishing baits and wire.
