My collection, entitled “Gunning” is inspired by my three siblings, Donal, Aoife and Cormac. Having spent the last year all living in different places, I wanted to highlight what make us different, and, what ties us together. I started by choosing shapes for each sibling that represented their interests and personalities, then responded to these shapes through experimental collaging and stand work. Following this, through pattern cutting and toiling, I developed garments for both men and women, each look focusing on one of my siblings. In terms of fabric and colour, I decided on different shades of green, as we all have green eyes. In the process of designing and constructing my collection I developed a new sense of understanding and compassion for Donal, Aoife and Cormac. It gradually became less of a representation of my siblings but a way to show my love and appreciation for each of them.
