Memories of Ukraine

I was inspired by my adolescent memories of my time living in Ukraine, I tried to craft a heartfelt retrospection, paying homage to Ukrainians fighting for their freedom during Russia’s current invasion.

I drew silhouettes from vivid industrial and architectural objects I encountered during my time in Ukraine, recalling outdoor market stalls overflowing with hand-printed traditional designs. I was inspired by the patterns, colours and textures that speak to the authenticity of Ukrainian culture. Nodding to my childhood home and cherished teddy in the most descriptive elements of the collection, I hope to awaken the care-free, child-like persona in every spectator.
