My collection is inspired by my Nigerian heritage and the cultural significance and ties to the spirit world. This collection explores the Vodun religion in West African countries. My main shape inspiration was obtained from various Vodun rituals such as Bocio figures, the costumed Egungun spirits and the Zangbeto, who are the traditional guardians of the night. I designed this collection to encompass all these elements of Vodun and focused on creating the looks for this collection by combining features of each ritual together. Hoods play a significant role in each piece as it pays homage to the secretive and mysterious Egungun performers, who effectively disguise facial features that would disclose their identities. The collection is a combination of oversized structural pieces and relaxed draping.

Work Experience: Richard Malone, London.
