Without warning

‘Without Warning’ takes inspiration from the experience of depression. In creating my collection, I analysed all the feelings, thoughts and emotions one goes through while experiencing depression and dealing with anxiety. Eventually focusing in on the feelings one would suffer from having a panic attack. The waterproof fabrics represent both how vulnerable one can be, but also how one tries to protect themselves subtly during times of darkness. Wadding under waterproof fabrics and velvet speak for the weight of the struggle felt by someone living with depression. The waterproof fabrics when waded, look heavy and strong, just like a person struggling on the inside may look from the outside, it conceals the truth. Creative pattern cutting, contrasting textures and drawstrings are used throughout the collection to achieve the flowing line that connects all the garments together.
