XXXii
Inspired by dystopian themes as seen in classic animes such as ‘Akira’ and ‘Ghost in the Shell’, XXXii draws it’s visual source from advanced cityscapes and architecture both in fiction and current reality and plays on the popularised anime trope of overt female sexuality, hence the use of transparency and focus paid to creating volume on the bust line. With a strong female protaganist and customer at the centre of the design process and narrative, comfort and ease of movement are integral to the final collection. Soft and natural wool combined with technical steel yarns achieve this contemporary mood while silhouettes reference the fashion industry as we know it now. The consequent collection is a thorough textile study which evokes a highly advanced future, hypothesised by popular fiction.
