This collection is a response to the artistic movement inspired by modern feminism and the 8th amendment. Love Handles celebrate the sloppy, squishy, uninhibited aspects of womanhood.
The silhouette of my garments was developed from the drawings of various feminist artists. My use of velvets and satins embody the softness of the female form, with layered tulle representing how women often conceal aspects of their bodies or sloppy lifestyles. The collapsing bulges and voluminous silhouette was constructed through creative pattern cutting and seaming.
Delicate baby pinks and rich bodily reds throughout the collection highlight the societal expectations of femininity, while communicating the humour often seen in contemporary feminist art.
