This collection captures the changes in the woods beside my home and my childhood memories of time spent there. It is story of how a place that was once full of life and adventures has drastically changed due to neglect and deforestation. I wanted to capture a sense of the old and the new by comparing my childhood memories of woods with the present day. The shapes for my collection were inspired by lumberjacks and the equipment the use while in the process of felling trees. Each piece tells the story of neglect with the twirling of fabric around the arms indicating  to capture the overgrown roots of a tree and the trims of the sleeves representing the intertwining branches that have outgrown the woods. The use of layering indicates the annual rings of the trees throughout the years. Ropes and eyelets are introduced to form closures for the pieces which indicate the interference of people and the woods.  

Colour was a big aspect to my collection, the different shades of the recycled denim creates great contrast to the brown tweed wool. I  hand dyed my own fabric for the lining of the coat and insured that every piece of the recycled denim was used to create a sustainable approach to my collection.
