Cnoc Diolúin

This womenswear collection of coat dresses is a personal response to the rural Irish bogland ‘Cnoc Diolúin’ located near my home in the Irish Midlands.

A bog or bogland is a wetland that accumulates peat, a deposit of dead plant material—often mosses, It is one of the four main types of wetlands. Both my grandfather and father worked on and cherished this peatland for over 40 years.

I have taken my main inspiration from the bog oak that lies on this peatland incorporating the organic line and raw feel into each look, from which I developed an organic raw aesthetic. I adapted the bog oak line and texture using pintucking and gathering. Using the stand and through innovative pattern cutting, I achieved a more organic and innovative look to the garments.

Using traditional fabrics such as Donegal Irish tweed and 100% linen this allows each coat dress to connect with this fascinating natural landscape. The colour palette of this collection derives from the photographs I took at ‘Cnoc Diolúin’ that are earthy and have a warm lavender tones as well as shades of brown and cyan.

This is personal womenswear collection of dress coats that will give power and strength to the woman who wears it.
