Inspired by the fast-paced nature of Tokyo and the amalgamation of railwaysnetworks that serve the densely populated city, TOKYO BY TRAIN is a structured anddynamic collection which showcases the ever-changing, bustling essence of theJapanese capital. Like the stations that supply Tokyo, my collection is constructed ona multitude of levels and platforms alongside quick, sweeping shapes that reinforcesthe speed and agility needed to navigate this dynamic city. I explored the 3-Dimensionalaspect of this garment using a combination of pattern drafting and stand work to createa self-supporting structure that would complement the body. The colours and fabrics arederived from the professional attire worn in the commercial and finance centre of theShibuya District, as well as the strong lines that can be seen across the famous“Shibuya Scramble Crossing.”
