Megans exhibition “Knots” is part of an ongoing series of work revolving around menstrual discomfort and pain, this collection was inspired by her own experiences with menstruation and the complexities of the female reproductive system. The title “Knots” represents her personal narration of the pain and mental exhaustion of running in circles when seeking medical help as a person with reproductive problems.
Her recent diagnosis of HPV has played a major role in the urgency she feels to bring light to reproductive health, particularly after the cervical check scandal in Ireland. This led her attention to the lack of information and resources available for people with HPV in Ireland.
The colours red, pink and brown have played an intrinsic part in the making process of this series. Megan aims to express these issues in an illustrative and bold way using digital art, screen print and painting, merging these mediums together to create a visual and immersive experience.
