Clodagh Byrne

Óid d’Éirinn

Clodagh’s work deals with her own ambiguous and intimate relationship with her homeland. As a young adult in Ireland, she navigates melancholy emotions and thoughts about loving Ireland and leaving Ireland. Clodagh intends to bring back value for the Irish language, landscapes, and seascapes. With a lot of her works being miniature in scale, there is a need to be close and intimate with the works to view them, which imitates the closeness and intimacy that the artist wishes for with her homeland.

Poems on display are written in Irish and English but are separate works and are not translations of each other. Working primarily through embroidery, poetry, and drawing, her work is aimed as an ode to her homeland; the Irish language and Irish scenery.
