Through Black & White photography, Greta explores a wide range of occult themes, natural environments, female form, mysticism and other curiosities. This series of Black and White photographs was informed by ‘The Five Sacred Elements’, which are Earth, Water, Air, Fire and Spirit. The Five Daughters represent the personification of each element, giving these divine spirits a human female form. In one form or another, this concept has been seen throughout human history. These elements represent a timeless philosophy, which describes the fundamental blocks of the Universe.
In some Neo-Pagan belief systems these symbols are used to practise ritual magic. Ultimately, invoking the natural rhythms of nature, whilst also aiding in the connection with its cycles through life, death and rebirth. Greta uses the human form as a personification of each element, capturing nature’s abstract qualities.
