I feel that in a world where we are increasingly focusing on the individual we need to actively create spaces that have at their heart a community agenda that focuses on collaboration and working together.
My practice encompasses a community driven publication RumpusX which acts as a platform for collaboration, active participation and public engagement. It also involves organising and facilitating public events for example NomShtock festival. This duality is vital as it demonstrates the importance of putting theory into practice.
Writers, artists and philosophers submitted articles and imagery under the theme of community for the first issue of RumpusX. The second issue of RumpusX engaged with The Limerick Spring Festival of Politics and Ideas which took place in April 2015. Issue three of RumpusX which will have the theme of wellbeing will be launched at NomShtock 2015 in September. At the festival there will be a series of RumpusX talks and workshops bringing both the contributors and audience of RumpusX together.
