LIFE IN ORDER

My work deals with my understanding of death and loss. My work uses photographic and drawing mediums to investigate depletion of life as a retrospective examination of my own life. The altering and degradation of life has its individual rhythms in each life cycle, life can deplete slowly or rapidly depending on outside stimuli or due to our own biological make up, I hope to investigate this temporal factor as it occurs in my family albums. Family members die, family members are born, we make friends we lose friends, parents die and children become parents. All of these factors affect our outlook and shape our lives and our understanding of life. My work endeavours to dissect these aspects of life and loss exposing my own experiences with death like a raw nerve. The work is a candid expression of my emotional reaction within my drawings and the manipulation of my families captured experience, our family photographs. In this way I hope to create a cathartic memory narrative that is a meaningful and tangible personal view of life and death.
