Gan Ainm

My collection was based on the Brothers Grimm’s story of Rumplestilskin in which a miller tells the king his daughter can spin straw into gold which in turn prompts the king to long the the millers daughters into three different rooms over the course of three nights where she meets Rumplestilskin and he remains nameless for the duration of her entrapment.

I chose to focus on restricting the movement of the arms within the fabric to make the garment to entrap the wearer to feel helpless with some movement for the sense of hope coming to the millers daughter for the three nights she’s locked away. I worked in satin fabrics to bring the golds shimmers and luxury to the garments, to feel an end to the torture before she in to find the nameless man had tricked her into believing she was safe before she was clueless again for three more days before over coming her fears in the name of Rumplestilskin.
