SHOW YOU OFF
Although the rights and status of women have improved
considerably in contemporary society, gender inequality still exists in many areas. For example, in terms of online representation, there is excessive scrutiny and criticism of women’s bodies on social media and the internet that is not experienced by men.
Despite the growing rights and status of women in contemporary society, disrespect for women can still be felt in certain areas, particularly in virtual spaces such as the internet and social media. Specifically, on the internet, when men and women post similar photos of their bodies, women tend to receive more attention, comments and criticism, while men are relatively free from the same level of scrutiny.
Through photographs showing natural and powerful body curves, this project aims to call for the reduction of sexism on the internet and social media, as well as any vulgar comments and ridicule, so that everyone can express themselves freely and confidently in cyberspace.
