My graduate collection is inspired by the natural world and in particular the growth and life cycle of lichen and fungi. These amazing organisms break down decaying matter to help introduce and sustain new life within the plant world.
Experimenting with natural eco prints to draw out tannins from vegetation on to cotton and silk fabric forms the foundation of my collection. Knit adds an extra interest through colour, volume and shape to my work and the use of machine embroidery to construct delicate lichen and fungi from soluble fabric adds texture and vibrant colour. I have introduced willow weaving to the collection which also adds another natural element giving shape and form to the entire collection.
