Different Needle, Same Thread

My artistic journey as a textile artist is deeply rooted in the rich tapestry of my personal history, with my grandmothers at the forefront of my inspiration.  Their skilled hands and boundless creativity instilled in me a profound appreciation for the art of crafting with textiles. Their meticulously stitched and lovingly crafted garments, the intricate patterns of their knitwear, and the delicate beauty of their embroideries, have left an indelible mark on my creative spirit.

My intention is to celebrate their continuing legacy, these women who existed in a time where they had no choice but to make do and mend. Through my Final Year Project, I aspire to connect the past and the present, fostering a deeper appreciation for the innate beauty of textile craftmanship and the stories it can tell. I hope to evoke the warmth of my very cherished memories of time spent in their company, and it is my hope that my work will not only serve as a tribute to these special women, but also as a source of inspiration for others to explore the limitless potential of textiles in all forms.
