This collection examines the beauty of an impermanent life, exploring the fragility of our mortality, embracing the transient nature of our existence. I was influenced by the Japanese philosophy Wabi Sabi, that teaches us to find beauty and solace within the natural process of growth and decay and find value in the rustic unrefined qualities of life.

I chose to work with Irish Linen due to its natural properties and symbolic significance. The sustainable production of organic linen aligns with the collections concept embracing the natural world and its imperfections, fostering a deeper connection to the environment and the passage of time. Linen derived from the flax plant, undergoes minimal processing, retaining its raw texture and earthy appearance. Its durability can be seen as a reflection to human resilience amidst change, each crease holding a story of time gone by. The work seeks to distil the complexities of human experience to tangible forms. Through sculptural experimentation, I was able to employ gestures of the everchanging rhythms of life in its most raw and unfiltered state, weaving together elements of form, space and emotion, capturing sweeping moments that evoke the passage of time echoing the gradual evolution and decay Inherent in all living things.
