DRUKKNA

Drawing on cultural and emotional themes from two similar Icelandic and Japanese folktales, the collection portrays the emotional and physical responses to dealing with a loved one being lost at sea.

The central character struggles to understand his
loss, and ultimately finds comfort and calm in the chaos, swell, and unrelenting power of the ocean. The garments reflect this journey, from the intensity of the initial immersion, through the chaos of the swell, to the final sense of calm brought about by re-engaging with one’s love lost.

This surrender to one of life’s basic elements allows him to experience true love for one last time.

The wooden veneer used in this collection was sponsored by LZF lighting design, Valencia, Spain.
