EXCELSIOR

Excelsior is translated from Latin as ‘ever upward’. This collection is inspired by the movie ‘Silver Linings Playbook’. I have primarily focused on
the portrayal of OCD and Bipolar disorder within the movie. This is depicted through the father/
son relationship. I wanted to show the contrast, chaos and unity of these disorders within this one family. This is symbolised in the colour blocking and asymmetrical designs within my collection. Pharmaceutical beading and top-stitching represent the medical aspect to the disorders.
