A Haon

In the vast realm of human emotion, I find myself drawn to the elusive feeling of being overwhelmed. A sensation that manifests uniquely in all of us. Through drawing, I developed a narrative where a character grapples with the persistent presence of a dense cloud or haze. The imagery of the cloud serves as a metaphor for the mental fog that accompanies moments of overwhelming emotion, a vague entity that hovers over us.

I found resonance in the notion of walking around with one’s head in the clouds, perpetually lost in thought. This whimsical yet poignant imagery mirrored my own tendency towards getting stuck in a daydream, offering a lens through which to examine the interplay between reality and imagination.

I brought my narrative to life by shaping 3D forms on the stand, an intuitive response to my drawings. Using boning for exaggerated shapes that evoke chaos. I intentionally layered different fabrics, while also integrating light flowy materials to give a contrasting sense of calm. Distressing the fabrics was my way of responding to the overwhelming emotion that is communicated throughout this collection.
