Anchored is a collection that explores the tension between gravity and defiance, using structure and illusion to challenge how garments relate to the body. Inspired by the architectural language of ‘Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia’, the collection translates sculptural form into wearable pieces that appear displaced or detached.

Through engineered construction: such as dual shoulders and sleeve sockets that visually detach the sleeve from the garment, elevated collars, inclining extensions, and structured over-pieces; elements defy gravity through reinforcement and balance. Features appear to emerge from hidden seam intersections or resist natural gravitational pull.

This collection is developed through innovative tailoring, incorporating suedette, and cotton fabrics. Digital tools such as Clo3D and Gerber were used to visualise and develop patterns, supporting the translation of experimental forms and collages into resolved garments. Digitally engineered textile prints further explore the theme, reflecting controlled yet fractured surface. A palette of Bordeaux Eclipse, Draft white, Pearl moss and Acid moss, enhances depth within the collection.

In summary, the collection reimagines garment architecture as a dynamic interplay between weight, illusion, and controlled instability.

STRATA is inspired by topography and the layered patterns of contour lines and elevation. The collection explores how these flowing forms can be transformed into fashion through layered textures and sculptural silhouettes. By turning topographic elements into wearable designs, STRATA creates pieces that express movement, structure, and depth in a bold way.

Agbalara ‘Empress’ was inspired by the ‘Eyo festival’, a vibrant cultural celebration in Lagos that honours the king and his legacy. The festival is traditionally held to pay tribute to a deceased king. It carries a powerful sense of royalty and tradition.
Central to this collection is the King’s crown ‘Ade Oba’ a sacred symbol of power and authority. In Yoruba culture, the adage “Ade l’a fi n mo Oba” (“The crown is what makes a king”) reflects the idea that without the crown, a king’s status is incomplete. This collection draws from that idea, channelling the majesty and significance into each look.
Inspired by the King’s crown, the designs feature strong, structured silhouettes with intricate technical details that emphasises on the beauty of Yoruba royalty. However, the heart of this collection is the ’bird’ that often adorns the crown. More than just an adornment, the bird symbolises àse, the divine authority and power bestowed upon the king. It represents wisdom, spiritual connection, and the king’s role as a bridge between the physical world and the spiritual realm.
The bird’s graceful form is the key inspiration for the collection’s silhouettes. Flowing lines, sculpted shapes, and elevated structures are designed to reflect the bird’s presence on the crown, embodying a sense of elegance, power, and freedom. Through these designs, this collection not only honours the king’s divine authority but also celebrates the deeper spiritual and cultural meaning behind the Eyo festival and its rich connection to Yoruba tradition.
