Fashion Design with Applied Textiles

Project Rationale – My intention for my collection “Girls in Bloom”, is to pay homage to the female friendships in my life. In today’s society, there is such a dramatic emphasis placed on romantic love, but the greatest love of my life has always been my best friends – the ones who bring me joy, strength and excitement, all of which I aim to capture through my work. Using playful, youthful textiles with contrasting materials and techniques, I explored the duality of the women around me and the range of qualities they embody. I strived for my work to feel experimental and curious while still being strong, considered and crafted to the best of my ability. My hope for this collection is to reflect real growth, express my identity as a designer, and most importantly to act as a celebration of the women around me – a thank you for who they are and all they bring, and a reflection of what a privilege it has been, and continues to be, to bloom alongside them.
