This project was born from a desire to explore the feeling of frustration I feel that comes with the forced repitition of everyday life, from the daily chores, to
seeing the same sights day in day out. To represent this claustrophobic feeling, this project makes use of the manmade, inorganic nature of urban environments.
To contrast with these rigid, manufactured structures and patterns, the project will turn to nature, and the organic patterns and forms that can be found, especially around the coast. There, the landscapes formed by the free repetitive motions of the elements bring a sense of calm and peace to the mind, a welcome contrast to the hustle and bustle of the concrete jungles.

As a middle ground between the stress of everyday life, and the quiet of nature, it only felt natural to explore how my mind tends to wander, especially since that often
manifests as paying close attention to details and patterns in my surroundings.

Patterns and repetitive processes play a large role in this project. From maps and the harsh lines found in cities, to the waves and the coastlines they form, to the ancient
celtic knot patterns that tangle and turn into themselves.
