Disparate Autonomy

My work is an exploration of bodily autonomy, this is done through ambiguous sexual suggestions and viewing the theme of beauty and disgust while using my own body as reference. The facial features and obscure uses of the different parts and fragmentation of the body have become predominant in my work. The paintings can be seen as ethereal and delicate that take many hours to come to fruition. Painted with light pastel tones, all while portraying imagery. To some this may be viewed with disgust, which brings the theme beauty and disgust into view. The video itself attempts to show the side of the body which is anxious and frantic, shot on my phone with quick cuts and transitions showing a disparity between the two mediums. The still painting embodying the calm and delicacy while the video embodying frantic distress.
