Rewired

My collection is based on true story of a US Marine who lost her arm Claudia Mitchell. Using new innovative technology surgeons transplanted nerves from her arm into her chest. When the prosthetic arm is attached it is controlled by her brain. Making her the first Bionic Women. My first three looks are based on her prosthetic arm and the technology that controls it. My spec inspiration comes from the prosthetic arm as it is extended from her body. The following three outfits signifies the physical and emotional trauma caused by losing a limb. As humans when something happens to our physical appearance we see it as being magnified. I created this inner emotion through my garments. The fabrics (spec) symbolise the biology and the texture/wires and LED lights symbolise the technology. As the collection unfolds the technology becomes one with the biology. Human and Machine.
