The concept behind this collection was to explore Fashion Surrealism.
Taking inspiration from the artist Hans Bellmer, I began moulding the two worlds of Craft and Design together.
This led to a feminist critique of Bellmer’s work , which was inspired by female beauty and sexualisation, offering grotesque yet beautiful imagery. My hand embroidery drew inspiration from Bellmer’s erotic drawings.
Throughout the process of technical and design my main concept was to create three-dimensional shape. This technique was developed with the use of hand carved foam , entrapped internally within the original space provided. This led to the extension of female body parts.
