JOMON

JOMON: meaning ’cord marks’ or ‘pattern of ropes’. “When I abuse a woman, I can see her many faces…nothing is more fun than toying with a living human being”.

My collection takes inspiration from Japanese artist Seiu Ito, whose technique was to bind his model in bondage ‘kinkabu’ poses and use them as inspiration. I consulted ‘kinkabu’ bondage techniques in designing my collection; using the atmosphere of violence as the main theme. Imitating the act of bondage and the control that Ito had over his models, I used elements of rope and stitching as well as fabric treatment to convey the torture and pain of the story.

Work Experience: Georgia Hardinge, London (April –July 2015) / Áine Knitwear, Limerick (June 2014).
