This project explores the hidden systems shaping our digital lives—social media algorithms. In a fast-paced world where platforms connect us all, what often goes unnoticed is just how much these algorithms shape what we see, think, and do. At their core, they are complex systems designed to curate content we’re most likely to engage with—based on every like, share, comment, and even how long we pause on a post. Over time, this data creates a feed that feels personal, but is ultimately built to keep us hooked. Their purpose is simple: keep us on the platform longer. The more we scroll, the more ads we see, and the more profit is made. While this creates a seamless, addictive experience, it raises concerns about autonomy, awareness, and control.

Can we break free from the algorithm?

This publication investigates how these systems operate, explores attempts to resist their influence, and questions whether true freedom from the algorithm is possible—or merely an illusion.
