Katie’s practice aims to following the uncertain nature of things. Through script writing, prop-making, improvisation workshops and a one-night stay on the Aran Islands; she directs ‘Under The Weather;’ an LSAD Theatre Show performed in the boardroom in April 2023. In displaying the process of amateur theatre; Katie allows an audience to see how artists might improvise in a man-made storm: a metaphor for unpredictable moments in an individual’s life.
Originally from Roscommon, Katie became interested in theatre production after co-directing ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ and facilitating ‘Union Station Theatre’ in 2022; a space for artists to perform through means of improvisation. Between embarrassing repeat-after-me songs and a group performance in Limerick’s train station; she began rehearsals for ‘Under The Weather,’ a show that borrows from Samuel Beckett, Marcel Dzama and Irish archival footage. It details the expedition of a desperate radioman, who in attempts to revive his radio show; wanders an island of weathered individuals.
