This publication is a discussion and exploration about how Ireland has lost the element of dancing to drinking overtime within our nightlife culture. This conversation was ignited by nationwide nightclub closures and new legislation to be imminently passed, allowing nightclubs to operate until 6 am to hopefully improve Irish nightlife. As nightclubs are first and foremost for dancing, this publication further discusses how Ireland needs to bring the focus back to dancing rather than drinking, and how we can save this dying pastime. The article ‘Dublin’s Dying Nightclubs’ is featured which analyses the contributing factors to Ireland’s nightlife dire state. It also includes interviews with my grandparents about their dancing experiences and how Ireland’s nightlife has changed over the years. Lastly, it features a collection of survey responses from young Irish people about what they believe Irish nightlife should be.
