This work is a documentation of my walks, excursions and experiences in nature through the use of collected found objects and imagery from said walks. The beauty of nature is something I wish to examine, to comment on and to highlight to others. I attempt to do this by examining notions of ecology, geology and zoology. These fields of study also relate to how I display my collections. In using the shelf, museum ideologies come into play. Drawing on the ideals of Cabinets of Curiosities and Wonder Rooms – whose purpose was collecting various items of interest and the preservation and appreciation of these objects. The use of the shelf is a very deliberate and direct method of displaying found objects and imagery alongside each other. There is a sense of order and control as the viewer is guided around the space.
