Throughout my entire art and design practice, I’ve always been influenced by nature; particularly by vegetation that grows within an urban environment. From examining this vegetation, I became interested in the cellular structure of plants and inner supporting systems of plant stems.
I picked porcelain as my medium, as I believe it best describes the delicate nature of these structures. The rawness of the unglazed pieces is a reference to the organic simplicity of the cell’s form. I explore these forms through three dimensional sketching.
