Pilcrow is a design collective which promotesand supports a new generation of creatives. This site showcases work, hosts articles, interviews, and promotes members. My intention was to create a site whichrepresented the unique and quirky character of an emerging creative. Throughout thedevelopmental stages, I identified the opportunities thisservice could provide them with. I wanted topromote members, which I decided to do bycreating a ‘spotlight’ section, where users areshowcased on the homepage alternating weekly.Through my research, personally I found thatthe most satisfying experiences I had werethose with accurate and consistent feedback. This was reflected in my findings within mythesis, specifically concerning the importanceof providing an accurate interaction for theusers’ mental models. I made a consciouseffort to adhere to Jakob’s law so as notto cause any cognitive friction, but to alsoprovide the user with an exciting experience – therefore aligning well with both ideas. This was done through the navigation option at the bottom, where the user canmove through a circular progression of the most important features within the service. This is also reflected in the roll-over feature for each profile image revealing colour.
