As a child growing up being a foreigner came with a lot of hatred and insecurity. I wanted to create a book for the boys and girls growing up being foreign that missing home is okay. I wanted to make the representation I desperately wanted as a child. Growing up I had a constant battle with my identity and this book reflects those emotions. Creating this book was an amazing experience and I discovered the micro decisions needed for book creation from story to images and to colours. A big part of this project was making it easily held by kids and adults as although the demographic was 7–10-year-olds I wanted adults to enjoy and relate as-well.
