“Is it better for a man to have chosen evil than to have good imposed upon him?” -Anthony Burgess, A Clockwork Orange
A world where youths have no moral compass and ultra-violence is the daily norm, the novel A Clockwork Orange explores a dystopian society overrun with anarchy. My Collection is based on how the characters in the novel are warped and skewed through living in this environment. Through innovative fabric manipulation and pattern cutting an off kilter silhouette is created to depict a sartorial distortion of one’s self.
By taking traditional fit and adapting it with irregular curves and grooves a new body is created, an altered form. I use an all-black palette to emphasize the malevolent landscape the book is set in. contrasting textures in the one shade highlight the overall silhouette. A bold new spec is created which represents how humanity depicts itself as a warped version of what the reader is comfortable with. A uniform to match the chaos they live in.
