B.I.T.C.H

This collection B.I.T.C.H stands for ‘being in total control of herself’. It’s based on Barbie meets drag. It is about the pressures people face today with self-image and beauty standards. From a young age people grow up idolizing the Barbie doll and its perfect proportions, believing that is how we should look. Drag became the main focus of the collection, as it’s controversial. Drag queens completely exaggerate their features such as big voluptuous lips, huge hair and dramatic eyes. These shapes inspired my collection.

I aimed for the collection to be fun, daring, exciting and funky. Emphasizing this by using bright, bold metallic colours similar to a makeup pallet which drag queens would use. I created unusual shaped garments with flat patterns and working on the stand. Developing my own textures and prints. The fabrics used were denim, duchess satin, foil, leatherette and tulle. Both the fabrics and colours represent the fun and eccentric attitude of the drag queen.
