Sprouts
In this project, “Sprouts,” I am exploring stories of migration. Particularly focusing on the effects of migration on parents and children. Through this project, I am examining the experiences of children growing up in new places, surrounded by diverse traditions and cultures, exploring the profound impact this has on their worldview. Through my drawings, prints and sculptures of the oak seedlings, I am highlighting the beauty and challenges of navigating life outside your native land.
Far away so close
My work is inspired by childhood memories and real-life experiences, which I expressed through a series of constructive sculptures. Migration is the central theme in my work, representing the process of moving to new places and becoming part of a new environment. Through my work, I hope to create a sense of belonging and identity even in unfamiliar surroundings. In the finished work I used materials and photographs from a range of people, recording their lived experience, and explored their connection to the past and present.
Selfie as performance
This curriculum project “Selfie as Performance”, students were asked to take selfies, captured through detailed linocut prints. Inspired by the works of Cindy Sherman and Andy Warhol, these linocuts served as a record of the moment and the person, and the time spent creating them.
Students explored how and why people create ‘fake’ selfies for social media. They learned about self-expression and identity, on completion students presented their work in a small exhibition in the school hall.
