As an interdisciplinary artist, my practice explores the visual language of maps, focusing on the shapes, colours, and textures that emerge from an elevated perspective. Drawing is central to this process, serving as an intimate form of exploration and a starting point for my sculptural work.
I am particularly interested in industrial sites along the Shannon Estuary, which I reinterpret through satellite imagery. This viewpoint allows me to engage with these landscapes in a more abstract and subjective way, prompting the question: can satellite imagery help me develop a deeper sense of empathy for my local landscape, socially, ecologically, and environmentally?
Working with natural materials gathered from the estuary, I create paper pulp as a base for making, alongside processes such as free-motion machine embroidery. My approach is immediate and responsive, guided by flow, play, and the materials I gather
