Nowadays

Nowadays is an animated short created using an audio piece given from my grandmother.

Now 81 years old, she brings to light the values that are held closest towards a lived life, which include family, religion, reminiscing and maintaining one’s own independence. Her telling’s also touch on the painful events that occur in most elderly people’s lives, such as true feelings of loneliness which many elderly people struggle with, and the loss of a loved husband. Nowadays animation complements the audio with a selection of delicate pencil rotoscopes drawn from everyday items found within her home of retirement. Splashes of painted colour bring life and add character while we explore Items of aid, comfort and sentiment that surround her as we peek into an intimate insight of life nowadays.
