These large-scale paintings are based upon the architecture throughout LSAD. They are reflecting on the interior of this built environment by presenting their geometric lines and forms in a minimal, hard-edged manner.
By observing and taking photographs of the various college architectural spaces, it led to the sketching and planning of the complex arrangements of this painted series. The aspects that were taken from the photographs signal specific spaces of the interior of LSAD. These minimal elements are articulating the refinements of the forms of these structured spaces.
The intention of the paintings are to limit the amount of information given, by only presenting these particular aspects from the photographs, by using subtle graduations of tone, while containing it to a two-dimensional surface. The paintings are providing the opportunity for engagement, with the viewer and with the space around them. They are implicating the viewer to observe and make their own connections.
