Sculpture. Writing proposals- engaging with digital media and public sculpture.

This project aims to familiarise students with their surroundings outside the classroom. It focuses on student engagement with sculpture artists that work within the local area. Through this engagement with the local artist, students critically respond to their local village by creating a piece of sculpture and channeling their interest in digital media, in support of the development of their artistic creativity.

The project consisted of;

Artist visit- students learned about a local artist and practise, public sculpture and elements that need to be considered while creating a site-specific sculpture.

Creating and making – students designed and made sculptures in response to specific sites in their local area.

Proposal writing- pupils wrote a proposal for a public piece of work with the vision that it would be considered by for example their local county council in an open call submission

Digital Media – photo editing, students edited their sculptures into the specific sites they were created in response to.
