Summer job on a building site sparked new interests in industrial materials and processes. Coming every day to a contact with new materials and their potential uses I started to appreciate their qualities. Cross sections of functional objects we see every day, for example plastic windows, shower door frames, curtain rollers can hide something very intriguing. By disassembling and dissecting various fittings, trims and frames, I reveal their functional side. Moving from the intentional aesthetic finish, to the functional often unseen. Fittings for screws and support structures within are all hidden. In the work, the unseen surfaces. I am bringing the objects already known back into the domestic setting by redesigning the function and the aesthetics while maintaining a hint of their origins.
